Salesforce Chatter is a robust social enterprise network that can connect sales teams, service and support departments, and a business with its customers. For example, imagine a sales rep needs to collaborate with the sales manager on a new sales opportunity. With Salesforce Chatter, the rep can loop in the manager and keep the dialogue right with the sales opportunity record. Think of Salesforce Chatter as your favorite social media network imbedded in your Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to create new and productive collaboration opportunities across all user groups.

Salesforce Chatter can be utilized to:
  • Allow users to "follow" certain records, such as sales leads and customer support cases and see updates to those records in the Chatter feed.
  • Create specific "groups" for collaboration, such as a group to launch a new marketing campaign, manage an important client, or recruit and retain employees.
  • Elicit feedback from users with polls right in the Chatter feed, such as polls related to goals for the new fiscal year, ways to build an open and innovative company culture, or even what food to serve at the next company event.
  • Upload and access important documents and link those documents to the applicable Salesforce records.
  • Give users an easy way to ask questions to specific groups, such as a group for new employees or a product-specific group.
  • Optimize and increase productivity for the user's mobile experience on the Salesforce1 mobile app.
  • Automate business processes by providing a convenient place to approve or reject quote discounts, case escalations, or other records within Salesforce.
